Jamestown North Dakota Fire Video

I didn’t expect to be making such a lagre video, but these kinds of things happen when you least expect them. I have a lot of the details at Webfeed Central, but here are the links to the videos:

Medium Quality (42.5Mb)

High Quality (142.5Mb)

ADDED: The 18 minute movie was actually bits a pieces of separate movies that I patched together. Overall, the time span that was shown in the movie covered from about 2:30am to just after 4:30am. For a while, it didn’t seem like they were making any progress.

  4. [...] My friend, Tom Simpson who runs Webfeed Central and works nights at a hotel in Jamestown, captured some dramatic video of a fire that occurred last night at about 2:30 A.M. in his town. The photo from his Flickr site shows the fire in its early stages and the video shows about 18:30 minutes of its progress. Judging from Tom’s comments as he was taking the footage, it was very cold (as you would expect in ND at this time of the year). I also noticed that his coverage of this event made the Top Posts from around WordPress.com page. [...]

I am the mother of one of the apartment tenants, Chris Rittenbach. I’m just so thankful that he was still awake Friday morning at 2am, and snelled something “funny”. He thought it might be the Christmas Tree lights at first. He was able to get clothes on, and awaken the other tenants…and get out of the building, with no injuries and very little time to spare!

He had some angels with him!

My little brother and his friend are heros in my book. They woke up their neighbors family and they all got out of the building.

What an awful tragedy at a beautiful old building, but thank God nobody lost their lives. Downtown Jamestown will never be the same when I go back to visit.
