My Son’s Radio Interview

My oldest son went over to Fargo last night (more like early this morning – 3am-5am) and did a interview on NDSU radio. He’s got a band, and they’re getting better than what they had been in the past. I’m not really “into” that type of music, so I really don’t know.

Anyway, I tuned into the stream, online and recorded the whole two hours. I created four different versions of the recording. A full version, complete with all of the other music that was played during the two hours (NDSUFull), another version that was chopped down to just their voices (NDSUVoice) and their song (which was played twice). There’s a high quality WAV (High) and a low quality MP3 (Low) of each.

Rather than link them, directly, I’ll just give you a directory listing of them, so you can decide which one, if you want to listen. At the time I’m writing this, the only one that has completed uploading is NDSUVoiceLow.mp3. It might take a while for the others, and I’m going to bed. I’ll yank out the last part of this paragraph when I get up.

My Brother’s Moving

My brother, Troy, is moving away from Northern California to [the midwest]. How’s that for vague? Anyway, he flew out for a few days, took a bunch of pictures of the area and the new place. Leave a comment, right here on this post, welcoming him back to the real world.

Yeah… okay, so you live in California and took offence at that. Sorry. But you know it’s true. California is just “different”.

Anyway, he’ll be living days closer to where I’m at and the travel time to visit him can now be measured in hours.

If you have a few minutes, take a look at the pictures that he sent over to me. Here’s a slideshow.

A Chance For A Free iPod

I know some of my readers have already checked out the Croncast podcast, on my recommendation, but in case you missed it, I wanted to bring it up, again. Many of you know that I was “highly” involved with podcasting, when it first started, and ran PodcastHost.com, until it became too busy for my hosting company to handle.

Back then, I subscribed to a lot of different podcasts, but lately, I only listen to one, consistantly.

Want a free iPod? Subscribe to the only podcast that I subscribe to: Croncast 300 by 300th iPod contest!

Right now, they are having a contest to try and get an additional 300 subscribers. There’s only a month left and about 100 more to reach the goal, and every new subscriber is entered in a drawing to win an iPod. No matter if you win, or not, if you subscribe to Croncast, you won’t be let down.

VoIP Options. What Should I Do?

I’ve been using Skype for the past couple years. Earlier, this year, they started offering free calls to everybody. At the end of the year, Skype will no longer offer totally free calls throughout the US and Canada. Rather than sticking with them, and paying a “per-minute” fee, I’ve been thinking about signing up for a VoIP service like Vonage. I really have no idea about how reliable the service is, or what to look out for, though.

I found a Vonage forum that has over 34,000 users, though, so I’ll be subscribing to a lot of thier feeds to get an idea of how it all works. There’s also a bunch of news and reviews on thier site, so hopefully I can get a good idea of what others think of the service.

Since Skype has been free, I’m usually on “the phone” for an average of 6 hours a day, or so. If I had to pay for Skype-out, I’d end up paying over $200 a month. With Vonage, it looks like I’d get unlimited calls for about $25 a month. Definetly worth keeping an eye on, before Skype’s current deal ends!

Have any of you had experience with other VoIP technology? What do I need to look out for?

I Don’t Have Time For This

Well, I think I finally hit the “too many blogs, not enough time” level. That’s what I get for entering into contests that I would possibly be better off without, and for volunteering for things that get really big, really fast. I’m missing quite a bit of sleep, again. I try to sleep, but can’t.

There’s quite a few personal things that are going on, right now, that I don’t mind keeping to myself, either. That might become the topic on another day. Maybe even a topic for another domain… oh, wait! I need to quit that!

I’m In One Of Those Moods

There has to be other people out there that spend what might be considered “too much” time online. There’s just so much to do, and so much to see that it’s almost never-ending.

Well, I think it’s just the mood that I’m in, but I seem to have reached a point that I just don’t want to even “look” at this thing, anymore. I know that I have a lot to do. I always seem to have multiple projects, and even more ideas for other projects, but my brain just doesn’t want to think about them, now. Maybe I’m sick…

Anyway, it seems like it’s time to take a little vacation. Maybe I’ll take some cool pictures and show them to everybody, when I get back. Maybe I’ll just play video games for a few days. Sleep sounds good, too…

I’m sure I’ll be around, on and off, but it will definetly be less than normal. I think I just need to pull the plug for a while, defrag the brain, again, and re-familiarize myself with the analog notepad. Just don’t ask me how the book is coming along.

Keychains

I ended up with my wife’s keys tonight. She picked me up at one job, I dropped her off at home and drove to my next job. Her keys were in the ignition, the whole time. Anyway, I knew that she had it, for a while, but I just re-read the keyring that is hanging off of them:

Cucumbers Are Better Than Men Because…
  • Cucumbers are at least six inches long.
  • Cucumbers stay hard for a week.
  • Cucumbers are easy to pick up.
  • Cucumbers won’t ask:
    1. Am I the best?
    2. How was it?
  • You always know where your cucumber is.
  • It’s easy to drop a cucumber.
  • No matter how you slice it, you can have youre cuke and eat it, too!

I don’t have any fancy little keychains on my key ring. I don’t think that most guys have them. It seems like more of a female thing, for some reason. I do have a 512Mb USB drive on mine, though. I think that’s just a geek thing, though. Does your wife or girlfriend have any “out-of-the-ordinary” keyrings? I also want to know if you have more than 5Gb on yours!
