Finally Getting Some Snow

We’re finally getting our first snow of the season, up here. Here’s the story from the Fargo Forum. We had some flurries over the past few days, but in my opinion, those don’t count. What counts is when we have some snow sticking to the ground. I made a short video, a few minutes ago. You can download it, here.

The “banging” that you hear in the video is a flag that is located just above where I was standing.

The lights are starting to flicker, a little bit, due to the wind, but we haven’t lost power, yet. If we do, I’ll lose my net connection, so I wanted to get this up here as fast as possible.

First Snow?

We’re supposedly supposed to get our first accumulating snowfall, today. At 6:45am, it’s already started to snow, here. There’s a Winter storm watch for 3:00pm, this afternoon which only lasts for three hours. I’m not a meteorologist, but I just don’t see where they’re getting this information. I’ve looked at all of the data of this supposed “storm” that’s coming, and from what I see, it’s going South of us.

In fact, the system that’s dropping the white stuff on us, right now, is almost gone. All that I see happening is a little bit of snow and slightly colder weather for a few days. By the end of the week, we’ll be back up in the high 40’s and by the weekend, we’ll hit the 50’s. By then, whatever snow that will have fallen will be gone.

We could almost Bar-B-Q for Thanksgiving. How often could that happen in North Dakota? If this is what global warming is all about, I say “why not”?

Where’s The Snow?

I haven’t looked into this, too much, but I know that something strange is happening, this year. Usually, every year, it snows on Halloween. This year, though, it didn’t. It’s a week after Halloween, and there’s still no snow.

Now, I’m not complaining at all, but I will say that this seems like it’s going to be the mildest Winter that I’ve seen in a long time. Even though it got down to 25 degrees, last night, we’re not going out to our vehicles in the morning, and scraping the ice off of the windows. We’ve had a few nights that some moisture rolled in (in the form of fog) and gave the windows a nice frozen layer, which would be melted as soon as the sun came up, but no snow. Where is the snow?
